Built by a paper fiber millionaire in 1892 as a single-family estate, the Federalist-style inn is located directly across the street from the nationally-acclaimed Coker College, a four-year liberal arts college. The sprawling Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, a picturesque boarding school attended by the top academic high school students from throughout South Carolina, is located just two-blocks away.
Situated on 3-acres of sprawling lawns and gardens, and surrounded by century-old live oaks, magnolias, azaleas and towering cedar trees, Oak Manor Inn is just a pleasant 5-minute stroll from the town's chic shops and superb restaurants.
All 5 guest rooms (3 King and 2 Queen) have private baths, flat-screen cable TVs, and mini-refrigerators. Three rooms have fireplaces as does the paneled library and stately living room.
A home-cooked southern breakfast including organic eggs, bacon or sausage, buttermilk biscuits, pecan tarts, fresh fruit, grits, coffee and juice is provided to all guests each morning. In-room coffee makers, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards are also provided, as is that all-important free high-speed wireless.
Whether you're relaxing on the screened-in porch, sunny outdoor terrace or having cocktails in the cozy library bar, Oak Manor Inn provides the quiet privacy that businessmen and women enjoy and expect. The owners, Steve and Meenu Tinney, occupy a separate cottage on the grounds and divide their time between Hartsville and their inn and pub in West London, England.
